Carrier Procurement Representative

As a Carrier Procurement Representative for Sonwil Logistics, you’ll build carrier relationships and manage the movement of truckload freight throughout North America for top consumer brands, industrial producers, and retailers. You will have the opportunity to focus on logistics and be involved in the growth our transportation and freight brokerage business. Daily, you’ll play a key role in assisting with our customers’ supply chain strategy by transporting their inventory in the most efficient manner, all the while creating and fostering key relationships with our professional drivers and carrier network.

In this role, you’ll be a part of a carrier procurement team who will be responsible for upholding our strong commitment to customer success by addressing supply chain issues, solving transportation related problems, and making concise decisions to support our ever-growing portfolio of customers!

Responsibilities/Duties of a Carrier Procurement Rep:

  • Manage/grow relationships with current Sonwil Logistics carrier base
  • Rapid “on the fly” rate negotiations with carriers 
  • Target prospective new carriers through outbound “warm” calling to build your book of business
  • Utilize investigative sales techniques to further develop carrier capacity
  • Manage full truckload (FTL) and less than truckload (LTL) shipments
  • Assign, dispatch and track all shipments with carriers
  • Assist in support and execution of quoting opportunities for first time and existing customers 
  • Proactively address problems and implement effective, timely solutions
  • Serve as the liaison between an individual/company that needs shipping services and an authorized motor carrier

 Qualifications/Required Skills: 

  • 2 or 4 year college degree
  • Must like to work in a fast paced and highly competitive sales market
  • Hungry for success and always looking for self-improvement
  • High level multi-tasking ability with strong organization skills
  • Detail Oriented
  • Enthusiasm and high energy
  • “People person,” friendly, outgoing, and confidence is a must
  • Willingness to work in a team environment, but able to conduct themselves and their work independently, driven to achieve individual results without being micro-managed
  • 2+ years of Transportation or Logistics background required.
